On Thursday 11th June, the Under 16 and Under 14 athletics squads once again returned to the Jarman Park Athletics Track to compete in the 5th round of the Hertfordshire Schools Athletics League. The opposition at this meeting was composed of the 4 other top schools in the league table and therefore this meeting was likely to prove to be a very difficult encounter. However, it seems that this only motivated the HABS athletes even more, and in near perfect conditions the HABS Under 16 and Under 14 teams both dominated proceedings and as a result a large number of our athletes gained personal best performances on the night. Also as hosts of the meeting, HABS were able to select a number of ‘B’ string athletes who also excelled in their performances.
Both HABS teams are now sitting at the top of their respective leagues in unassailable positions. So both squads now need to turn their attention towards the English Schools Track and Field Cup meeting this coming Tuesday at Lea Valley, when they both hope to qualify for the National Finals!
There were wins for the following athletes in the Under 16’s:
Dylan Kaposi – Pole Vault – 3.10 m
Michael Miller – Javelin – 44.50 m
Adam Shiret – High Jump – 1.79 m (personal best)
