The School has been using the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust resources for three years now and the Wellbeing Action Plan booklets have proved effective and popular with our Year 7 and 8 pupils and their tutors.
We have found the format to be really accessible for our younger boys and have encouraged them to have a family conversation to help them identify their strengths and manage their wellbeing when they feel things are tough.
It also supports the communication between home and school and we are delighted to read some of these parental comments in response:
“I enjoyed talking to my son about this whole topic and understanding the importance of wellbeing. The whole family had quite an open discussion about wellbeing, talking to one another, doing things that make you happy and the importance of friendships and family.”
“Really helpful booklet, interesting discussion with my son about his triggers, signs of stress too as he didn’t realise that those were signs of distress or concern. Very enlightening experience for us both.”
“I really think this is a great idea to promote the importance of mental wellbeing in children. They need to understand their emotions well before learning how to deal with them. Writing this journal will help them understand their emotions. Splendid idea!”
“This was a very useful exercise to help my son to be able to take charge of his own wellbeing. It made him and us (his parents) discuss methods of keeping positive and having a positive mental attitude to all things in life.”
