Designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to make confident financial decisions in the future, the morning began with an inspiring keynote address from Mr Patrick Evans, Deputy Editor of the Financial Times and Chair of the Financial Literacy and Inclusivity Campaign (FLIC). Drawing on his extensive experience in financial journalism, Mr Evans highlighted the importance of financial education in today’s rapidly changing world and encouraged students to develop a strong understanding of money management from an early age.<\/p>\n
Students then took part in a lively question-and-answer session, exploring a range of contemporary financial topics. Discussions covered the impact of artificial intelligence on financial markets, the future of cryptocurrency and the potential risks associated with day trading, encouraging students to think critically about the financial landscape they will one day navigate.<\/p>\n
The event continued with a series of interactive workshops focused on essential financial concepts. Using resources developed by FLIC, students explored topics including tax bands, understanding payslips, budgeting and investing. Practical activities and a simplified investment game helped bring these concepts to life, enabling students to apply their learning in realistic scenarios and gain a deeper understanding of personal finance.<\/p>\n
Throughout the morning, students demonstrated great enthusiasm and engagement, asking insightful questions and embracing opportunities to develop their financial knowledge. The sessions highlighted the importance of financial literacy as a life skill and the decisions young people will face as they move towards greater financial independence.<\/p>\n
The Financial Literacy Morning was both educational and empowering, reinforcing our commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom. By developing a stronger understanding of money, budgeting, taxation and investing, students left with practical skills that will support their future financial wellbeing and help them make informed decisions throughout their lives.<\/p>\n
