Habs Girls is a place where everyone can feel safe and happy. We make sure each student is known and valued as a unique individual, empowering our young people to develop their own self-esteem, resilience and empathy. That way, they can flourish in all aspects of school life and the world beyond.
Every student is known as an individual, and every voice is heard within our community.
Still, we also know that, for whatever reason, sometimes they need a little extra support. Building strong and meaningful relationships between students, parents and staff is at the heart of our pastoral care. This means that whenever our young people have worries and concerns, they know we are here to help.
Whatever your child may be feeling, we want them to know they can talk to us. We will always do our best to help.
We can be flexible in helping to manage situations, easing pressure where appropriate and supporting how your child feels day to day.
The world in which our young people are growing up can be challenging, upsetting and exhausting, but we are here to listen and help them work through their struggles.
Their digital wellbeing is extremely important to us and as the online landscape evolves with AI, we are committed to educating and enabling them to flourish in an ever-changing world. Our vision for our students is for them to be engaged and impactful global citizens who understand their moral responsibility.
This starts with our school environment. We promote positive relationships within our school community, supporting students to develop empathy for others and to learn how to disagree agreeably.
Belonging from day one.
Students are placed in pastoral groups with tutors and Heads of House who get to know them well. Families feel part of our House and School communities through a tailored Parent Induction Programme. Friendships form quickly and students gain the confidence to be themselves – supported by inspiring teachers and by older students in their House who act as Amigas and Mentors.
A community that encourages courage.
Students join a broad co‑curricular programme to widen interests and personal profiles. We celebrate participation and progress, and we encourage courage in trying new things and in thinking with ambition and curiosity.
Learning to love learning.
Life in Middle School is fun. It is about forming strong learning habits and discovering a love of learning. Students also learn how to care for themselves and others through bespoke Life‑skills and Study‑skills programmes that prepare them well for Upper School and beyond.
Independence with support.
Students move from House‑based forms into mixed form groups while still enjoying regular House meet‑ups and competitions that sustain identity and belonging. The focus is on stretch, challenge and independence as students prepare for GCSEs and the pathways beyond.
Pathways, leadership and voice.
We embed learning profiles and transferable skills through opportunities such as Model United Nations, Combined Cadet Force, sports leadership, musical and dramatic performances, our in‑house Dragons’ Den, House and Year debating under Speak Out, and accredited Leadership qualifications through our Partnerships Programme.
Looking ahead.
With a varied co‑curricular offer and strong careers education, students become fully informed about the routes that suit them – at Habs and beyond.
For any safeguarding concerns our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Ms Jaqueline Deadman, Deputy Head Pastoral.
