As a Habs Girls parent or guardian, you automatically become a member of St Catherine’s Guild, run by a committee of parents with the support of class representatives.

It is a great way for parents and guardians to get to know each other, and to get more involved in school life. You will meet people across the year groups and within your child’s house.

The Guild goals

St Catherine’s Guild has two key goals:

  • To fundraise for the Habs Girls bursary fund
  • To enhance the education of students at Habs Girls

Each year, £5,000 of the funds raised are allocated for activities, facilities or items that further the education of existing students.

The balance of all funds raised is then allocated to the bursary fund.

Our bursary support

The vast majority of money The Guild raises goes to the School bursary fund. Habs is a diverse and inclusive community and this aligns with the intention to become even more so.

A Habs education can transform lives. Each time the Guild can help to make that happen for even one child, it will have achieved something truly worthwhile.

Events

The Guild organises a range of popular social and fundraising events throughout the school year.

These include:

  • The Fireworks Extravaganza
  • The Junior Disco
  • Quiz Night
  • The Vintage Tea Party
  • Summer Fun Day

Outgrown uniform (OGU)

The Guild manages the OGU scheme. It is a positive and sustainable way for good-quality uniforms to be reused rather than wasted.

OGU donations are always welcome, and can be dropped off with Senior School reception.

Sales are held once a term at Habs Girls, and the school calendar publishes the dates and times. Any further information, including changes to the calendar, will be in our weekly school newsletters.

Why not get involved?

The Guild is only possible thanks to the generosity of parents giving up their time. So please let us know if:

  • You could help at events
  • You have any special talents to offer (e.g. face painting, speaking)
  • Your business could offer anything to be used at events at cost or a reduced price
  • You have any great ideas

Volunteering at events is a fun, rewarding way to get involved in the Habs community and meet other parents from across the school.

The committee

Guild committee meetings are open to all parents, so do come along to hear the latest news about events and how you can help. You might like to join the committee at some point, or become a Class Representative.

To support the Guild. a Class Representative is appointed for every class in the school. While not committee positions, but Representatives are invited to attend committee meetings

Each of the 12 committee positions may be held for a maximum of five years.
