Spanish students from Habs Boys and Habs Girls are celebrating an outstanding evening at the Hispanic Theatre Festival, taking home two awards for their original Spanish-language production.
Around 10 schools competed at the festival, with performances judged by a panel comprising representatives from Cambridge University, the Spanish Education Ministry and the Instituto Cervantes.
At the heart of the Habs production were Upper Sixth students Ishana (13 JYB/PLT) and Arie (U6H1), who wrote and directed the play entirely in Spanish. Following a packed dress rehearsal at lunchtime, the students delivered an exceptional performance at the festival which took place at North London Collegiate School.
Their creativity and hard work were recognised with two awards. Sophia (13 AE/ NM) received the Best Original Performer Award, while the whole group won the Audience Choice Prize.
The achievement reflects the students’ ambition, creativity and collaboration, as they brought together language skills, performance, and original writing to create a production that impressed both the audience and judges.
Congratulations to Ishana, Arie, Sophia and the entire cast on a fantastic achievement!
