We held a deeply moving assembly for Holocaust Memorial Day, reflecting on this year’s theme, Bridging Generations.

Students shared powerful reflections on the importance of connecting with the past to build a kinder, more inclusive future and we heard moving personal accounts from several students about their family and their experiences.

The assembly also highlighted a recent trip that Sixth Formers undertook to Poland, witnessing the thousands of shoes left behind, each representing an individual life and a story that must not be forgotten.

The students also looked beyond the Holocaust to more recent acts of targeted persecution, such as the Rwandan genocide, learning about the vital power of reconciliation and education. The assembly concluded with a minute’s silence.

By sharing these stories, we hope to ensure that history does not just fade away but guides the choices we make today and how this generation must now be the voices for those who can no longer speak.
