Students marked the start of Black History Month with a special assembly led by Composer and Opera Singer, Helen Epega.

Bringing this year’s theme, Honouring Our Communities, to life through storytelling, narration and song, Helen filled the room with energy and enthusiasm from the very beginning. Her interactive approach encouraged students to join in throughout, creating a joyful atmosphere while exploring the stories, voices and experiences that shape our communities and identities.

The assembly provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop open-mindedness, care and social responsibility, encouraging them to listen to different perspectives, deepen their understanding of others and reflect on the importance of belonging, inclusion and community.

We are grateful to Helen for sharing her creativity, warmth and insight with us, and to our students for embracing the session with such enthusiasm and engagement. It was a memorable and uplifting way to begin Black History Month and celebrate the richness of our diverse community.
