On the last day of the Spring Term, Habs Girls enjoyed a first-class debating competition as Houses went head-to-head for the trophy. Well done to all who took part, with special thanks to Juliet (U6 HBU) and Amarleen (U6 TD) for chairing. This is a fantastic achievement which all participants should be extremely proud of, handling all arguments with confidence, courage and rigour.
Congratulations are in order for Scarlett (4 Aesc) who was named the best debater once again, having also received the accolade last year. Scarlett made clear and informative arguments, raising consistently challenging points of information and rebutted with confidence and clarity.
Although a difficult decision, the judges were unanimous in agreeing the winner of House Debating was to be awarded to Powell, represented by Maria (U4 Aesc) and Scarlett. Both students spoke incredibly well and demonstrated thorough research into their points of argument. They regularly challenged others and rebutted with skill. It was a delight to present Maria and Scarlett with the House trophy which will be showcased in the school’s trophy cabinet.
Congratulations to all those involved, celebrating another successful House Debating competition!
