On Thursday 6 October, Year 8 and 9 were very privileged to be given an inspirational talk by multi-award winning author Manjeet Mann.
The bestselling author of Run, Rebel and The Crossing gave a presentation about her inspiration for her books, her life experiences and accomplishments. Her debut novel, Run, Rebel was inspired when Manjeet Mann faced discrimination and racism. She was told from early on in her acting career that she could not be successful because of her skin colour. These comments drove her to be the change that she wanted to see.
Listening to her past experiences made us realise that life is not an easy road, and that we need to overcome the fear of failing when making out our path in life. The school also welcomed two visiting local schools, Clement Danes and London Academy to attend this inspiring talk. After the talk, Manjeet met with the school’s novel writing group and writing scholars.
Overall, everyone found the visit very interesting and we all hope to hear from more authors like Manjeet in the future.
