It has been a fantastic year for debating. We have seen growth in confidence, communication and critical thinking across our debaters. One of the strongest themes this year has been the willingness of students to step outside of their comfort zones. We have seen students become increasingly confident in articulating ideas clearly, listening actively to others and responding thoughtfully under pressure.
There has been a huge amount to celebrate, particularly in 2026. We have won the following:
- Imperial Schools Bronze Winners
- Imperial Schools Silver Winners
- LSE Junior Silver Winners
- Brighton Schools Gold Winners
- Durham Schools Novice Winners
- International Competition for Young Debaters (ICYD) Novice Winners
Several qualities have consistently shone through. Our students have approached motions with genuine interest and asked insightful questions to deepen understanding. Teams have worked supportively together in preparation and during debates, showing strong respect for one another’s ideas. Debaters have built resilience, learned to think on their feet and responded positively to constructive feedback.
It has been a pleasure to work with such thoughtful and engaged students, and we are excited to see the Debating programme continue to grow next year.
