Year 5 pupils from the Junior and Prep Schools proudly presented their final projects to parents and staff at their IPQ (Independent Project Qualification) Expo, demonstrating creativity, innovation and a commitment to tackling one of today’s most pressing global challenges: fast fashion and sustainability.
As part of the IPQ programme, pupils explored the environmental and social impact of the fashion industry, investigating topics such as ethical manufacturing, sustainable materials and consumer responsibility. Their research encouraged them to think critically about real-world issues and develop practical solutions to support more sustainable choices.
Earlier in the year, pupils took part in a Dragon’s Den-style event, where they confidently pitched their ideas and research findings to an audience of parents and staff. This valuable experience allowed them to explain their concepts, receive constructive feedback and refine their projects further, learning key skills in marketing, budgeting, design and entrepreneurship.
This marks the first year that pupils have worked towards the IPQ, providing an exciting opportunity to build confidence, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills while engaging with meaningful global issues.
During the Expo, pupils enthusiastically shared the journey behind their projects and explained how they had developed innovative solutions to address the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion. Visitors were impressed by the breadth of ideas on display, which included sustainable products and services, educational websites and awareness campaigns.
The IPQ is a fantastic example of learning extending beyond the classroom, inspiring pupils to be curious in their thinking, ambitious in their ideas and resilient in developing their projects. The Expo was a celebration not only of their hard work and achievement, but also of their ability to make thoughtful contributions towards a more sustainable future.
