This year’s winner of the Shakespeare by Heart Competition – Vernilan – was praised for his immense ability to eternalise the speech of The Boy in Henry V.

Vernilan’s speech has been filmed to celebrate this success and accomplishment.

Copied below is the feedback of our Head of Drama, Mrs. Morris-Wolffe, on the specifics of his performance.

‘This was an exceptionally engaging and highly accomplished and mature performance.

It was a brave choice to go for comedy, but you established an excellent rapport with your audience and really invited us to share your scornful contempt of the men you were mocking. Your timing was excellent, you varied your tone and you “reached” for words and turns of phrase to make us believe you were discovering them – with relish!

This was engaging, truthful and genuinely funny. Congratulations Vernilan!’
