The annual European Seminar, held this year on home territory on Friday 4 December, was a great success. The theme focused on’ Integration and understanding of other cultures’. Mr Roger Llewellyn greeted Herr Kirchberg and the students of Schloss Gaienhofen, Lake Constance on their arrival, after which fifteen Year 11 German students gave their guests a tour of the school campus.

After initial ice-breaking activities in which the students introduced their ‘partners’ in the foreign language the debates began. The Seminars, which were led by Mr Lawrence and Herr Kirchberg, provoked some animated discussion in both English and German amongst the groups. The students themselves presented the final Seminar on issues raised during the day, establishing a charter for the running of their ideal country. The presentation of certificates concluded a most rewarding day for all concerned.

There is no doubt that lasting friendships will have been made amongst the pupils from both schools and we are already planning the next Seminar to be held in Strasbourg in 2016.
