On Friday 10th October, the CCF Army Section went to the Tower of London to commemorate the centenary of the School Officer Training Corps (OTC), which was formed in October 1914.

Where else to commemorate this than the Regimental Headquarters (HQ) of the Royal Fusiliers, the school’s affiliated regiment? The exhibition of poppies in the moat of the Tower to commemorate all British service men who died in World War One added further poignancy to the event.

The boys paraded in front of Regimental HQ and the new CCF banner was blessed by the school chaplain, the Reverend Jan Goodair and, after an address by Lieutenant-Colonel Mark Lloyd-Williams to the cadets, the school Drum Corps performed a stirring routine in front of a packed audience of tourists and parents alike. Afterwards parents, boys and staff retired inside for refreshments and to look around the Tower. A marvellous and memorable occasion, to be treasured by all who took part.
