EU Referendum fever has come to Elstree. In a memorable Sixth Form Assembly on Wednesday 15 June, a debate took place, under the chairmanship of Mr Clark, Head of Politics, between representatives from Britain Strong in Europe and Vote Leave.
Christopher Beazley, a former MEP, represented the Remain team as our visiting speaker and put forward the case Britain’s continued membership of the European Union based on peace, prosperity and humanitarianism. Unfortunately our visiting speaker from Vote Leave had to pull out at short notice, but in true Habs fashion Zak Wagman, stepped up with five minutes preparation. They displayed exceptional public-speaking skills, taking on “Project Fear” with confidence and flair.
A vote was taken afterwards with over 85% support from the Lower Sixth Form for Britain staying in the European Union. The national UK-EU Referendum will take place on Thursday 23 June.
