The History Department was delighted to welcome over a hundred family members of the Year 7 boys including many of the interviewees. The wonderful tea provided by the school caterers was a great hit with the guests, the boys and the teachers present.

The range of the topics covered in the interviews this year was particularly diverse with memories recorded from six different continents and from a time span ranging from the 1930s through to 2010, as well as memories of growing up in North London in the 1970s and Radlett in the 1980s. One parent said “This captures HABS wonderfully.”

Dorothy Miller-Smith of the Modern Languages Department observed that “The lovely afternoon brought home the fact that we are a multi-national school, nearly all of us have ancestors from overseas. You could feel the sense of pride each of the boys has in his own heritage.”
