The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School is delighted to announce their best results on record for the top grade at GCSE. 73.4% of all grades were 9, 8 and A*. An exceptional 23% of Habs students have achieved 10 or more straight 9, 8 and A*s, with an astonishing 51.1% at grade 9. A further 31 students achieved nine top grades. 94% of all grades in Mathematics and Design Engineering (DT) were 9 and 8.
Gus Lock, Headmaster, warmly congratulated this year group on their outstanding performance. He said: “I am delighted to see that our students are clearly excelling right across the curriculum, from the sciences to the creative subjects. The importance of developing creativity and complex problem-solving skills in young adults, who will inherit a world increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence, is essential.”
A record 88% of 9/8 grades was achieved in Chemistry and Physics and 86% in Biology. The School is thrilled that their modern linguists continue demonstrate considerable strengths, with 83% achieving 9/8 grade in French, 82% 9-7 in Spanish and 100% 9-7 in Russian. Meanwhile, the classicists achieved a superb 100% grade 9 in Classical Greek and 89% 9-7 in Latin. Remarkable results were also noted in the humanities with 96% grades 9-7 in Theology, 91% in History and 88% in Geography. 90% of all grades in English Literature were A*-A. Demonstrating essential breadth, Habs is delighted that 90% of students taking Art achieved grades 9-7, as did 81% taking Computing and ICT.

This success reflects the School’s ethos to develop skills needed by the global leaders and citizens of the future. “It is important to remember,” says Mr Lock, “that Habs pupils achieve these superb results alongside the huge array of character-building opportunities beyond the classroom in sport, music and drama as well as the many opportunities to serve local and global communities through charitable activities.”


Rishi, who enjoys tennis, was also awarded 10 straight 9/A*. Rishi said: “I am really happy – it is great and relieving to see that the hard work has paid off. My teachers encouraged me to aim high and my parents really supported me.”
George, a pianist and enthusiastic football and hockey player, received 10 straight 9/A*. George said: “I could not have hoped for any better. Thanks to all my teachers at Habs – they have been great.”

Krish, a member of the Habs cricket A team, achieved 10 straight 9/A*s. Krish said: “I am very pleased with my results. I am thrilled to see that the hard work has paid off. Thanks to my teachers at Habs for their support and calmness.”


Mr Lock said: “I congratulate the pupils, their parents and the dedicated staff on these exceptional results, which provide a firm foundation for further success in the Sixth Form and beyond. I look forward to welcoming the pupils back in September to start their Sixth Form studies.”
