We are delighted to announce that Habs Boys has been selected for The Cricketer Schools Guide 2026 – a recognition that reflects the strength, history and ambition of cricket at Habs.

Cricket has been woven into Habs life since 1690, and today more than 325 players represent the school across a full pathway from Pre-Prep to Upper Sixth. Under the leadership of Head of Cricket Jamie Hewitt and professional Ben Howgego, our programme fields an incredible range of teams and delivers over 260 fixtures each year.

With standout matches against Merchant Taylors’, Haileybury, Magdalen College School, Bedford School, Abingdon Senior School and Middlesex Cricket Club Fraser Bird, opportunities are abundant and ambition is high. Our facilities – including three grass wickets, two astro wickets, nine astro nets, six grass nets and a dedicated indoor cricket centre – give every player the space to grow.

We are proud of rising talent like Atharv (11R2), who represented Middlesex at just 15, as well as alumni who have gone on to make their mark in the game and beyond such as Richard Yeabsley and Gavin Baker.

Recent seasons have produced unforgettable moments – from the two-day win over St Albans in 2022 to last year’s explosive 279 in 20 overs versus Bancroft’s School.

Cricket at Habs continues to grow, with increased girls’ participation, thriving Year 7 to 8 squads with more than 80 boys training weekly, the return of tours (Jersey, Epsom Festival, Dubai, India, Sri Lanka) and the launch of our Emerging Player Programme and Year 7 scholarships. Exciting future plans include expanding the indoor nets and building a new pavilion.

Being named in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2026 is a proud moment for our whole community and a testament to the culture, commitment and spirit that define Habs cricket.
