The Bourne Hall this weekend hosted VEX robotics teams from around the UK in a World Championships qualifying event. The VEX EDR competition took place on Saturday where we had our Year 10 and Year 12 teams competing. TheNonRoutineMachines (Year 12) and HABS_Dynamics (Year 10) performed brilliantly all day but unfortunately lost out in the quarter finals. Both teams recorded excellent driver skills scores that are 5th and 9th highest scores in the UK.
Today we hosted the VEX IQ world qualifying event. An exciting competition held in great spirit. Once again, we had two teams competing, our Year 8 HABS_SciClones and our Year 9 HABS_Critical Speed with both teams consistently scoring high all day.
When it came to awards HABS_Critical Speed were announced as Innovate winners qualifying them for the World VEX championships taking place in Dallas Texas this coming May.
The judges were impressed with the team’s design booklet which showed their progression and innovative alterations to their robot. They also mentioned the team’s enthusiasm and passion for robotics and wanting to continually develop their robot design.
Well done to all involved!
