On Tuesday 5th May the U16 athletics squad travelled to Watford to compete in their second Hertfordshire Athletics League meeting of the season. This week the opposition (Watford Grammar and Berkhamsted) looked, on paper, to be much stronger. However, once again the HABS U16 athletes produced a series of outstanding performances which included a number of Personal Bests to win the match with ease.

There were wins for the following athletes:

On the track:

Ade Tokuta – 100m Hurdles – 14.8 secs
Fayo Alabi – 100m – 12.1 secs
Adam Shiret – 800m – 2 mins 20 secs
Jamie Harper – 1500m – 4 mins 37.5 secs

In the Field:

The final event of the evening was also another win for the U16 HABS relay squad, made up of: Ade Tokuta, Fayo Alabi, Dylan Kaposi, Ben Z-Moldovan with a winning time of 48.0. This win consolidates HABS position at the top of the Hertfordshire League table after just two meetings.

The two best individual performances (one Field and one Track) of the meeting came from the, Fayo Alabi who won the 100m in a new personal best of 12.1 secs and the best Field event was James Davis in the High Jump also with a personal best of 1.68m.  Making Fayo Alabi and James Davis the winners of the ‘Athlete of the Meeting’ Medals for the second round of the Herts Athletics League.

Things are looking very promising for the U16 squad with the first round of the National E.S.A.A. Cup just two weeks away on the 20th May.
