As an addition to the usual Crossman events, this spring term saw the re-introduction of inter-house basketball after a three year absence. This had been organised by two Lower Sixth boys (Adam Gozdanker and Rushil Soni) who had worked hard to make this event a reality. While it will not count towards the Crossman this year, it was a very successful event.

It was great to see many spectators there to support the respective houses and to cheer on their peers. With a trophy on offer to the winning house, the competition was particularly fierce. Calverts emerged from Pool A, beating Russells in the final pool game by a score of 17-8, while in Group B Meadows emerged as the victors. In a hotly anticipated final, Calverts won in a fast-paced and extremely competitive game by a score of 15-8.

Overall, it was brilliant to see so many boys participate and support their friends in the respective teams.

After the tournament, Mr Meltcalfe said: “It is great to see basketball back in the school calendar.”

Special thanks must go to Mr Pearson and Ms Ghioc for providing a high level of refereeing for this competition as well as providing the necessary enthusiasm for a ‘minority’ sport.
