The English department competition final took place on Wednesday 11 December at the Girls’ School. Mr Plotkin coordinated the event from the Boys’ School side.

The challenge was open to all Senior School pupils from both Schools to write the first 10 pages of a novel. The judge was a top literary agent, Luigi Bonomi, from LBA Books. Luigi is also the judge of the Daily Mail novel writing competition, in conjunction with Penguin Random House publishers.

The evening began with a wonderful reception of drinks and canapés, followed by an introduction to the event. Then, each entrant read an extract from their novel. There were prizes awarded for the best Boys‘ and Girls’ School entries, as well as for the best reading of their novel.

Many congratulations to Boys’ School winners Sam (first place), Raghav (second place) and Abrim (best reading of novel), and to Girls’ School winners Shalini (first place) and Yael (second place).

Well done to all involved!
