Law Soc welcomes Gareth Stephenson

The Sixth Form Law Society welcomed Mr Gareth Stephenson (Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP) to Habs at lunch on Thursday 5 November.  He spoke to boys in Years 10 – 13 about his experiences at this leading magic circle law firm and the process involved in training and practicing there as a solicitor.  Mr Stephenson has been a Corporate Partner for 20 years advising on large, complex mergers and acquisitions in multiple jurisdictions and is responsible for one of the firm’s Legal Services Centres in the UK. Students were entertained by his recollections of long days and nights in the office closing deals on behalf of clients together with practical advice on what to expect from a career in Law and studying it as an academic subject beyond school.

The talk was extremely valuable especially to our Sixth Form students applying to study Law at university.
