The Michael Cohen Prize in Economics is a prestigious annual award established to give recognition to outstanding work in Economics over the last academic year.  The second recipients of the accolade are Richard Lamuren, Kishan Sanghani and Thomas Colverd (pictured below, left to right).

The prize has been made possible by the generous benefaction of Mr Michael Cohen.  Mr Cohen, who joined the School in 1949, was keen to found the annual award in recognition of the inspiration he derived from studying Economics at Haberdashers’, initiating a life-long interest in the world of economics and business that was to serve as a secure foundation for a highly successful career that ultimately took him to Australia, where he now resides.  Mr Cohen wished also to pay tribute to the School’s late Headmaster, Tom Taylor, who had the foresight to move the School from its Hampstead location to the spacious grounds at Elstree it enjoys today.

Our students exhibit every sign of following in Mr Cohen’s footsteps.  They too have responded with alacrity to the intellectual challenges of studying in Economics, and it is in recognition of their superb personal commitment to the subject that they are being awarded the prize today.  All are looking forward to University, and we look forward to following their careers in the coming years.
