HABS Upper sixth student, Miguel Perera, was competing at the prestigious Bedford International Athletics Track on Saturday 20th June, running in the 110m Hurdles in the England Under 20 National Athletics Championships and European Trials.
Miguel, who has recently been selected to compete for the Hertfordshire Team in the All England School Athletics Championships, and is now ranked in the top 10 in the UK for the 110m Hurdles, has now been invited to take part in the National and European Trials meeting.
Some of the UK’s finest young athletes were on show, including Katarina Johnson-Thompson who competed in the Long Jump. In the 110m hurdles Miguel lined up alongside a number of England Juniors and in the heats he ran a really solid race to ease into the final with a time of 14.72, coming in 3rd. The final proved to be a much tougher affair but Miguel ran well, recording a personal best of 14.55 seconds, finishing in 4th place.
We wish Miguel the best of luck in the build up for the English Schools Championships in 3 weeks time.
