Using picture books, taking part in workshops with the children and learning techniques of physical comedy from Joyce Henderson and the National Theatre, our Year 10 GCSE Drama students created playful and inventive pieces of children’s theatre and performed them to our Habs Boys and Girls Reception and Year 1 pupils.
Performers developed physical, ensemble story-telling skills, including puppetry, choral movement, multi-use props and audience interaction. Designers developed their sound and lighting skills, including layering and manipulating sound and choosing colour, intensity and angles to create multiple magical and fantastical settings.
Our younger boys and girls conveyed their enjoyment through delighted laughter, gasps of wonder and lots of excited calls of “Over there!” and “Behind you!” and the Year 10 students were left buzzing from the experience and proud of their wonderful pieces.
The titles of their pieces are:
- Lost and Found
- Teddy In Space
- Behind the Waterfall
- Monster?
- The Fable of Ronnie the Rat
- The Grubbersnot
- Supper’s Ready
Well done to our students for embodying the full spirit of creativity and fun, we cannot wait to see how your skills flourish in Year 11!
