On Thursday 25th June, the school travelled to Woodside Athletic Stadium for its annual Sports Day. This was the first time in recent years that the event had been hosted away from Haberdashers` and the move proved to be an inspired one with both boys and staff enjoying an excellent day of athletics.
With Sports Day being an integral part of the Inter-House calendar, all of the events were hotly contested with the vast majority of the boys in each House taking part. Participation is an important aspect of Inter-House competition and this was reflected in over 700 athletes gaining valuable points for their House.
Meadows were the overall winners after nearly four hours of athletics. They won the Year 7 and Year 10 competitions, Joblings won Year 9 and Russells won the Senior shield.
The event could not have taken place without the hard work of Mrs Wright in planning the extensive travel arrangements. Mr Gathani produced a programme that reflected the quality of the event and The Housemasters spent a huge amount of time selecting and preparing their respective teams.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the caretakers who managed to bring Haberdashers` to Woodside in the form of flags, water stations and audio visual equipment. They were the first to arrive and the last to leave.
