On Wednesday 16 March, Matt Davies, UK and ROI CEO of Tesco came to Habs to speak on behalf of the Entrepreneurs’ and Professionals’ Society.
Mr Davies spoke to an audience of approximately 100 in the Old Refectory about his career as a businessman and past CEO experiences at Pets at Home and Halfords. After an informative speech about the decisions he made to reach his current position, Mr Davies opened the floor to a multitude of pressing questions. He was asked about Tesco’s position on the EU referendum, to which he calmly replied: “Our only policy towards the referendum is not to have a policy,” the future of online supermarket shopping and even about the horsemeat scandal from 2013.
Those in attendance, from both the Boys’ and Girls’ Schools, enjoyed the exciting and informative event. It is highly recommended that pupils continue coming to these events to gain an insight into the entrepreneurial and business world. The society would like to thank Mr Davies for his excellent talk and for giving up his time to share his experiences with us.
