On Friday 8 February, Miss Adams and Mrs Gomez accompanied 10 Upper 6th boys to see a production of ‘La Casa de Bernarda Alba’ (by Federico García Lorca) at the Arundel Centre, Channing School. The play was followed by an engaging question-and-answer session where some boys (and teachers) asked the actors and directors questions about theatrical choices they had made. The play itself is a masterpiece in symbolism and is a product of its time, and the cast did a great job translating that from the text to the stage. The addition of modern music helped bring the play to life, with the excellent performances of those playing Bernarda Alba’s five daughters adding to the experience.
