Once again Kevin Hicks visited Habs to make History active for Y7-9. Below are the comments from some of the boys.

‘ He was very funny and made probably the best history lesson ever. His skills were really impressive and his knowledge endless, I would have never known the difference from a hunting arrow and a fighting arrow. It is amazing that one of those archers could shoot 200 yards accurately. I loved his talk and thought that it was a great experience.’  Alex Taylor (7R)

‘ It was one of the best moments of my HABS journey so far. …… There was lots of humour that made the experience off the scale of awful to phenomenal. At times it was creepy but to stop us from losing focus Kevin professionally turned it into humour….’ Seth Millman (7M)

‘ I found it really funny, enjoyable and educating. I learnt some new facts about the medieval times and about Henry V whilst laughing at friends on the stage! ‘ Tomas Fielden ( 7M)

‘Thank you very much for organising this brilliant event. I learned so much and I also thought that he was really funny.  I had no idea that Anne of Cleves was German and that Richard III was the last English monarch!’ Jack Greenwold (8C)

‘He put in many amusing jokes and made the History of a drawn-out period extremely enjoyable to learn. He called up many volunteers to come and join him for some demonstrations and involved everybody, (including the teachers!). The main topic was Henry VIII and his many wives. For most women, they wore Hoods in pictures which were folded up but in Winter, they would unfold it, to keep warm. It had gold threads and many diamonds which was what made it very eye-catching.  He could dance for 12 hours straight …..’ Yash Shah (8R2)

‘I really enjoyed the History Squad today.  I liked that Mr. Hicks brought in props which helped accurately depict what fighting in WWI was like.   He really opened my eyes to the conditions that they had to live in and also the sheer scale of the war. ‘ Gianpaolo Ruju (9S1)
