The Theology and Philosophy department at The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boy’s School is delighted to announce that two students in Year 12 have been named as prize winners of the Lloyd Davies Philosophy Prize from Oriel College, Oxford.
The purpose of the Prize is to enable students to develop their abilities for independent research and thought in Philosophy and to bring students into contact with Higher Education.
Jamie is the joint winner of the competition for his essay on ‘How important are our memories for our identity?’ Jamie’s essay concluded that ‘our memories are very important for our identity, even if we are unable to pin down the exact nature of our identity.’ A link to this winning essay can be found here: http://www.oriel.ox.ac.uk/sites/default/files/slagel_j_essay_title_2.pdf.
Rahul was named as one of five highly commended entrants for his essay on the same subject.
