Year 8 Problem Solving Day

On Tuesday 4 June, our Year 8 boys had an active, fun-filled day solving problems across the campus. 

The challenges required them to work collaboratively and use their combined analytical, logical and deductive reasoning skills to work through problems set in Art, Mathematics, Theology and Philosophy, Linguistics, Computing, Classics, History, and Design and Technology. The boys also participated in orienteering and the physical challenge of an obstacle course. 

To quote the boys, it was one of the most enjoyable days at school and one of the toughest! They had to think very hard and work well together through the day, keeping energy levels high as they moved from one challenge to the next. Their determination and competitive spirit shone through as they drew on their subject knowledge and creativity to think outside the box. 

A big thank you to Mr Vincent for his meticulous planning and for inspiring all the participants. Colleagues who planned and delivered the activities did so with enthusiasm and our pupils were lucky to have them involved. This was a great return to school after the May half-term break. 

The winning team, which solved the problem in the shortest time, will be announced by Mr Vincent at Tuesday’s Junior School assembly.
