Year 8 student represents England in World U16 Youth Chess Olympiad

Congratulations to Avy (8M1) who recently competed in the World U16 Youth Olympiad! The competition had over 34 teams playing out over a course of nine days. The England squad had four members, with Avy being the youngest. Avy had the best performance among all the players in the England team with a score of 6.5/9 (5 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss). 

The England team overall had a decent performance and finished 24th. 

There were some really challenging games for Avy including beating the Turkey Red team, who had only lost three games in the tournament (and were crowned Champions) including one which Avy won against them and another where he beat a titled player a WCM from Sri Lanka.
