This spring Prime Minister Theresa May surprised a number of UK citizens by calling a snap General Election. As ever, Habs Politics Society were swift into action, arranging a mock election within a few hours. Candidates were nominated to represent the five main UK parties.
A husting event took place at lunchtime on May 2 in the Old Refactory which was attended by over 150 students. This generated a lot of discussion and some heated argument. Passion for democracy and political engagement continues to thrive at Habs. The same sixth-form students later took part in a hustings assembly at the Prep School where they were impressed by the informed questioning of the boys.
An on-line vote was taken of students from Year 7 to 13 on Thursday 4 May.
