114 cadets of the Habs CCF Army Section were recently deployed to Bramley training area in Hampshire for a fantastic Field Training Exercise. In difficult conditions of persistent rain, the Year 10 cadets showed, after only three weeks’ training, great discipline and resilience as they quickly constructed shelters for the night, while keeping themselves warm and dry.
The Year 11 cadets, after some instruction from the senior cadets, deployed tactically to construct a defensible patrol harbour under their platoon commander Cadet Cpl Jake, before reconnoitring enemy positions for the next day’s activities, and mounting sentries throughout the night.
The next morning, an exciting and varied training package was delivered, prepared and executed by officers and senior cadets of the Army Section, including two blank firing exercises and a lesson in ambush drills, the latter expertly delivered by Cadet Under Officer Ayaan.
All in all, a challenging, exciting, exhausting and enjoyable time was had by all.
