After many weeks of planning and preparing, over 80 Royal Navy cadets and staff set off for Ampthill in Bedfordshire to hike and camp in the countryside on Friday 11 March.

The Habs CCF have a long history of taking cadets to Ampthill and following a five year break, the RN Section returned with a new version of events. Two waves of cadets were dropped off at four starting points and hiked into camp in the dark. This was a challenge not only for the leadership skills of the senior cadets but also the navigation skills of the younger. All made it safely in and set up camp.

Following a chilly night and foggy morning, the cadets undertook a series of Personal Leadership Tasks organised by the Year 12 cadets testing skills such as teamwork, communication, physical fitness and patience.

Much fun was had by all and the staff were very impressed by the behaviour, resilience and manners of the cadets. I would like to thank all those involved in the event, particularly the staff that gave up their time and warm beds to give the cadets such a fabulous opportunity.
