?The Habs CCF RN Section have a great tradition of celebrating Trafalgar Night in honour of the life and battles of Lord Admiral Nelson. This year was no exception with cadets and Officers, joined by CPO Steve Legge, being treated to Lt Hall’s exciting and informative telling of the story. Mr Holmes also contributed with his in depth knowledge of life on board ship in those days including the customs and traditions as well as the gruesome punishments. The celebration was concluded with the traditional toast – ‘The Immortal Memory’ and a glass of authentic fruit punch for all the cadets.
Earlier in the proceedings, two cadets that had taken part in RN Summer Courses gave talks on their experiences. Jamie Slagel went to BRNC Dartmouth for a Senior Leadership Course and Purusotha Thambiaya went to HMS Bristol for a Summer Camp.
Both cadets could not have spoken with more enthusiasm about their experiences and were positive in recommending the courses to other cadets. CPO Legge said they were the best presentations he had seen from cadets from all the London schools that he visits. Congratulations to them both on making the most of the opportunities available to them and getting involved. We hope that more cadets will do likewise this coming year.
