On Thursday the 11th of June, four HABS boys went to Queenswood School to debate in a competition between HABS, Queenswood and NLCS.
A motion for the first debate was announced prior to the event: “This House believes that proportional representation should be used for General Elections”. Needless to say, both teams had prepared and therefore performed well in the first round.
The motion for round two was announced fifteen minutes before the start of the second debate: “This house believes that exams are no measure of intellect”. Although there was less time to prepare, both teams performed well and HABS came away from the event with first place.
Team A consisted of Purusotha Thambiayah (10H1) and Vincent Lee (10H2). Team B consisted of Tamilore Awosile (9H2) and Stanley Dench (9C2). Everyone tried their best and we left with a well-deserved trophy.
