The CEO and Founder of CYPHER LEARNING, Graham Glass, visited his former school, Haberdashers’, to give a presentation on the architecture of his NEO cloud-based platform which has been voted the best education platform in the world. He also gave useful insights as to how he came from just a Habsboy to an extremely successful entrepreneur.

After leaving Haberdashers’, Mr Glass had no idea of what he wanted to do in life, except that he wanted to make a difference. Extremely passionate about programming and having exhausted the use of the one and only computer at Habs at the time, he went to Southampton University where he continued his interest in computer science and programming.

He then went to America for further study and ended up teaching Computer Architecture at UT Dallas.

He “loved it from day one”. Though he was extremely passionate for teaching, he wanted to move on to earn enough capital to start his own business. After working for several business, creating software and programs for them, he finally had enough capital to create his own company/platform, merging all his interests into one.

His education platform, Neo, “is a cloud-based online learning platform that helps schools manage classroom activities, such as creating and delivering educational content, assessing students, tracking their results, and promoting communication and collaboration between students and teachers/faculty.”

Mr Glass discussed the diverse and beneficial implications of his platform and how it can make a difference within school systems, and what his next steps may be. Exceptionally passionate about programming, he presented the intricacies of the system’s computer architecture to L6 computer scientists, who found this as a vital learning experience.
