The Habs Diploma is key to our Sixth Form provision, and we are implementing some exciting changes from September 2025. To create more of a ‘pre-university’ experience, we have reshaped the programme to reflect our students’ commitments.

We are now introducing the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The EPQ is a Level 3 qualification equivalent to half an A-Level that allows students to conduct an in-depth research project. It is externally marked, carries UCAS points and is well understood by universities. Students will be able to choose between the EPQ or the Extended Research Project (ERP) which is a 3000 word, internally marked essay.

Our Habs Diploma consists of:

  • Visiting Speaker Programme – industry leaders within the Old Haberdashers network and outside of it visit Habs to speak on their specialist subject area
  • EPQ or ERP – a written project
  • Electives – additional courses in unique subject areas that run six to eight weeks throughout Sixth Form study
  • Subject enhancement – students will be able to delve into one of their chosen A Level subjects or into an area of study they may consider taking up at university
  • Community service – at least 20 hours of service to local initiatives in the year

Students who are taking three A Levels will be able to take electives. Those who are taking four A Levels will not need to take any additional electives.

These changes will prepare our students for life at university and the beyond as well as help them to flourish in today’s global and technological data-driven workplace.
