We were delighted to welcome Councillor Jeremy Newmark, Leader of the Labour and Co-operative Group for Borehamwood Cowley Hill, to Habs Elstree to see our partnerships in action.
During his visit, Councillor Newmark saw London Academy Year 5 pupils completing their KS2 swimming assessments in the Habs Girls pool, supported and encouraged by our Sixth Form students. He then visited Habs Boys, where Sixth Form mentors led Monksmead Year 5 pupils through an exciting science experiment, turning hot milk into the protein casein using vinegar.
The visit concluded with a inspiring student voice session, where Anika (12JYB/SGK), Sofia (12JZC/JVM), Arav (L6H1), Joe (L6J1) and Rahil (L6R3) shared their experiences mentoring Year 3 and Year 4 Maths at Fair Field Junior School this year. It was a valuable opportunity to celebrate collaboration and impact across our community.
There was also valuable discussion about future opportunities to strengthen connections across the WD6 area through Herts Learning Partnerships (HLP), as we continue to build purposeful and inclusive educational partnerships.
These initiatives reflect the wider work of our Partnerships Team, recently recognised with the Independent School of the Year Award for Outstanding Educational Partnerships. They are also a reminder of the role teachers play in shaping a culture of collaboration, service and professional generosity, where expertise is shared for the benefit of young people across our community.
