Habs student through to two engineering competition finals

The School is delighted to announce that Gianpaolo (L6S1) has been selected for the finals of two engineering competitions!

His project, called HydroCharge, has made it through to the finals of the Big Bang competition and the Triumph Design Awards competition and has also been nominated to compete for The Energy Institute Climate Change Special Award.

HydroCharge is a portable mobile device charger powered by flowing water that Gianpaolo designed and built as part of his GCSE Design and Technology coursework. The Big Bang competition is the UK’s top science and engineering competition; it inspires inquisitive minds to think big, challenge facts, ask questions, and invent solutions.

The Triumph Design Awards promotes and recognises the talent of students aged 16‐18 to solve real world problems with innovative and creative thinking. The Energy Institute Climate Change Special Award will be awarded to a project designed to help bring about a lasting reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, as a contribution to the UK’s goal of reaching net zero by 2050.
