The week before half term was a fully packed one for PSHCEE. Healthy Eating Week was supported by our caterers, Chartwells, and their excellent nutrition team. Junior School classes enjoyed discovering the truths behind consumption of sugary drinks and the benefits of fruit and vegetables, as they took part in the series of presentations. The chance to make their own smoothies by pedalling furiously on the ‘Smoothie Bike’ provided an energetic finish to their learning and a tasty reward!
The Sixth Form was treated to a visit from Malcolm Wood, Head Chef at UCS, a splendid advocate for the joys of living well. He led a ‘chef’s assembly’ on how to eat well at university and how to look after yourself. The presentation was accompanied by the chance to taste some healthy, easy to cook meals and a recipe booklet on healthy eating and nutrition. Our thanks go to Kathy Nolan, Catering Manager, and her Chartwells team for all their support and ideas for the week.
