This March Field Day, the entire CCF Navy spent their day away from the School enjoying the great outdoors and undertaking some team building activities. The group set out on Thursday afternoon, broken up into small groups who were to be dropped off at various locations in the Bedfordshire countryside and tasked with navigating through the dark to the campsite.

With visibility low, the sun setting fast and a group of hungry Year 10’s and 11’s, it was quite a task for the Sixth Form to lead the cadets to their distant rest. However, expecting nothing less from the well trained and experienced senior cadets, everyone made it to the campsite safely and in good time to set up their tents and cook their dinner.

The cadets were greeting by our very own Headmaster, Mr Lock, who had joined us for the evening. Sleep was hard to come by on such a cold night, many of the group woke up with ice having formed on the outside of the tents. Ignoring this however and in the great words of Lt Cdr Hardman, the cadets really ‘Seized the day’ on Friday. The older cadets organised several teambuilding exercises for the younger cadets, despite the best efforts of several local dogs on their daily walks trying to join in. In fact, one activity could not continue when a dog decided to steal the frisbee! Great fun was had by all.

Thanks go to Lt Chapman, Lt Cdr Hardman, SLt Redfern, Lt Hall, Miss Willows, Mr Cooper and Mr Lock for enabling the trip to go ahead.
