Seville Study Trip 2019

We had all arrived at Luton at 10 am, ready and excited for the trip ahead. On day 1 despite the early morning wake up call, everyone was excited and ready for the first day exploring Seville. To bolster our Spanish, we attended language lessons every morning at a local language school until lunch, at which point we explored the city further, and went our separate ways looking for lunch! Eager to explore, we were taken on a walking tour, where we had some interesting discussions about contrasting opinions about a new modern building, Las Setas, which differed so much from the traditional architecture of Seville. After the interesting insights, we climbed up the Giralda tower that stands at an impressive 100m, where we could see the best views in all of Seville. Afterwards, we looked around the famous Cathedral of Seville to witness the amazing architecture, whilst completing a fun quiz about the place. On day 2 after our language lessons, we made our way to a salsa lesson, curious to see what it was all about, and some time into the lesson, we discovered who did and didn’t have a natural ability at salsa dance! A long walk led us to the Plaza de España with all the bridges and surrounded by a beautiful serene park, el parque Maria Louisa.

We woke up on the third day still eager to explore, and after the language lessons and a bocadillo lunch, we made our way towards the Plaza de Toros, otherwise known as a bull ring. After a tour of the bull ring and some interesting ethical discussions, we headed back to the language school for a cultural lesson about Seville’s traditions. Following this, we headed towards the Alcázar palace, with it’s Islamic architecture, before heading back to the guest house to enjoy our final night in Seville.

Unfortunately, Friday morning came all too soon, and we woke up saddened that the trip was almost over. The trip was incredible, and we made lots of new memories with our friends, whilst really improving our Spanish and enjoying the city of Seville. We would like to thank Head of Spanish Ms Adams for organising the trip and Ms Adams and Mr Bartlett for taking us. We all had an excellent time.
