We are pleased to announce that our new flagship sports centre, which has been named the Medburn Sports Centre, is now open. The Medburn Sports Centre, named after the brook running by the School, as well as nearby farms and bridges, boasts fantastic facilities.
The state-of-the-art building opened on Monday 11 January 2016 and already the many facilities it has to offer are proving very popular with the boys and staff. Whether it is an early morning swim or work out in the fitness suite, equipped with the very latest equipment, the opportunity to scale new heights on the climbing wall, an energetic game of squash or the many activities that are planned in the Medburn Hall there is something for everyone.
For those who want to re-energise or just relax or work collaboratively on that next project, Joe’s (sports café) has a variety of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and refreshments on offer and, as it is situated next to the School Shop, is proving an ideal place to meet.
A huge amount of effort and investment has gone into making this a first-class facility for our boys. The much improved facilities the School will now offer on the sporting front are second to none and supplement existing areas such as our all-weather AstroTurf pitches, tennis courts, cricket pitches/nets and the various sports fields located around the grounds. In line with our School Development Plan, the sports pitches were also recently enhanced with improved drainage.
The Medburn Sports Centre will encourage boys to keep fit, lead a healthy lifestyle and play sports in an excellent environment. The formal opening is planned for April and we hope to bring you details of this later this term.
