On Tuesday 1 December, a team of Year 12 Geographers took part in a Harrow School Geopolitics Debate. The team was James Caplan, Krishiv Desai, Sai Mehta, Raeman Banaik and Raffles Fulton. The debate’s topic was ‘Should Bashar al-Assad be deposed?’ a very challenging and ongoing international debate. Habs boys represented Russia’s point of view on this topic. Harrow School and Habs Girls represented other groups involved. Overall, the debate was very interesting as a wide range of views were portrayed. It helped educate everyone present on why the Middle East is very politically and militarily unstable at this point in time, which is very important in understanding ongoing conflict and how it can be resolved.
