On Wednesday 29 March 2017, boys and staff were treated to an interesting and thought-provoking lunchtime talk in the Aske Hall by two ambassadors from the charity Oasis of Peace Trust.
The Trust’s mission is “to advance social equity and cohesion in both Israel and the United Kingdom.” They support the educational institutes of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam (NSWaS) – a community of both Jewish and Palestinian-Arab citizens, which is located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. NSWaS is an area where residents live and thrive together in peace, with a mutual understanding.
The two guest speakers, Samah Salaime and Adi Lustigman, addressed a captive audience by delivering an engaging presentation on the struggles they have faced, the unique community they belong to and their hopes for peace across the Middle East. They ended by answering challenging questions from the floor, before retiring for lunch.
The School would like to thank Oasis of Peace Trust for coming to Habs and to talk about such an important subject.
