Over the Easter break, our students took part in a range of enriching international trips, combining language learning, cultural exploration and personal development. From immersive Spanish experiences to cultural discovery and teamwork, each trip reflected meaningful and memorable adventures.

Our Year 8 Spanish trip to Alicante provided students with a vibrant introduction to Spanish language and culture. Based in the heart of the city, students attended daily language lessons and explored Alicante through guided tours, discovering local history, traditions and landmarks such as the Castle of Santa Bárbara.

Students demonstrated strong curiosity and open mindedness, asking thoughtful questions and engaging enthusiastically with their surroundings. Practical cultural experiences including making paella, visiting Tabarca Island, enjoying beach activities and tasting churros with chocolate caliente, allowed our students to apply their language skills in real world contexts.

Throughout the trip, our students showed excellent community spirit, kindness and teamwork, supporting one another and representing the school with exemplary behaviour. Prizes recognising effort, teamwork and engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration and integrity alongside academic learning.

Our Year 10 Spanish trip to Valencia offered a deeper level of cultural immersion. Staying with host families and attending morning lessons at a Spanish language school, students were challenged to use Spanish confidently and independently, showing initiative, resilience and a commitment to continuous learning.

Afternoon activities brought learning to life, from exploring the historic city centre and sampling local specialities to visiting the Albufera Nature Reserve, artisan workshops and the iconic City of Arts and Sciences. Experiences such as paella workshops, merengue dancing and football at El Saler beach encouraged risk taking, creativity and collaboration whilst having fun.

The students approached every activity with enthusiasm and maturity, impressing hosts and guides alike with their manners, adaptability and positive attitude. Their engagement with both language and culture reflected a genuine openness to learning beyond the classroom.

Building global citizens
Across both trips, students developed far more than linguistic skills. They built confidence, independence and cultural understanding, while demonstrating our Habs Habits.

These experiences not only enriched students’ academic learning but also helped shape thoughtful, confident young people ready to engage with the wider world.
